Detailed Itinerary of 6 days gorilla and wildlife safari in Uganda
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe Airport and Transfer to the Hotel and Shoe-bill at Mabamba
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by our tour guide or G S Uganda Travel representative, who will transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe for check-in and lunch. Afterward, you’ll drive to the Mabamba Swamp area, located about 30 minutes drive away. Situated at the edge of Lake Victoria, this swamp is a prime spot for birdwatchers eager to see a variety of bird species. Wooden boats or canoes are available to navigate the waters and spot these birds. Mabamba is especially known for the Shoebill Stork, which often hides in the water weeds waiting for fish before venturing into deeper waters. Shoebills typically nest in papyrus and sometimes reside on land near the water. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at one of the following:

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park for boat and game Wildlife Safari.
After breakfast, you’ll set off on a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Equator line for a photographic opportunity and an engaging talk while enjoying a traditional Ugandan cup of coffee. Here, you’ll witness an experiment that proves you are indeed at the Equator.
Lake Mburo National Park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including zebras, impalas, elands, topis, giraffes, various antelope species, and buffalo. Upon arrival, you can embark on a game drive or take a boat trip on Lake Mburo to spot hippos and crocodiles. Located in southern Uganda, the park is easily accessible from Kampala.
During your visit, you can look forward to a variety of exciting activities, including game drives and nature walks. Game drives offer the chance to see the park’s iconic wildlife up close, with zebras and giraffes often seen roaming the open savannah. If you’re lucky, you might even spot predators like hyenas.

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, renowned for its population of mountain gorillas. The journey will take you through stunning landscapes, rural villages, and lush tea plantations. You will arrive in Bwindi in the evening and settle into your accommodation.

Today is the highlight of your safari as you embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla tracking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Accompanied by expert guides, you’ll trek through dense vegetation in search of one of the habituated gorilla families. Spending time with these gentle giants is a truly unforgettable experience. After your trek, you’ll return to the park headquarters where you’ll be awarded certificates. In the afternoon, you’ll drive to the Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5: Game Drive and Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Today, you’ll spend the day exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse parks. In the morning, you’ll embark on a game drive through the park, where you’ll have a chance to spot lions, elephants, leopards, hyenas, and a variety of antelope species. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, known for its high concentration of hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge and other wildlife species.
In the morning, you’ll transfer to Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. As you trek through the gorge’s lush vegetation, you’ll search for the habituated chimpanzee groups and observe them in their natural habitat. After the trek, you’ll drive back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport via Mubende, which takes approximately 5 hours.
