In addition to primates, the park boasts of a diverse range of wildlife, with 70 mammal species and over 375 species of birds.

This national park adjoins Queen Elizabeth National Park, and together they create a 180km-long corridor for wildlife between Ishasha in the south and Sebitoli in the north. Kibale National Park covers an area of about 760 sq. km, and its dense rainforest is a perfect habitat for primates, including the red, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, baboons, and chimpanzees. It is also an excellent place to spot rare bird species in the Bigodi Wetland, such as the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler, White-collared Oliveback, and Papyrus Canary.

DAY 1: Arrive at Entebbe airport and Shift to Kibale National Park Uganda for chimp tracking Safari

Begin your day by meeting one of our staff members / guides at your hotel and depart for Fort Portal district via Mubende. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to make several stops at various intriguing locations and you will expect to see various landscapes and local communities. The route will take you through rural areas with homesteads, farmland, and small towns. In Mubende town, you pass through Mubende town, which is known for its tea plantations, and stop at the Nakayima tree shrine. The Nakayima tree shrine which is believed to be a sacred site where the spirit of Nakayima, a powerful 19th-century princess and leader of the Bachwezi dynasty, resides. The shrine is located at the foot of a large fig tree that is estimated to be over 400 years old, which is believed to have been planted by Nakayima herself.

The shrine has become a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world who come to learn about the history and culture of the region. Local guides at the shrine will be available to take you around the site, explaining the significance of different parts of the shrine and the stories behind them. Visitors can also see traditional dancers and performers, and purchase souvenirs from local vendors.

In addition to its cultural and historical significance, the Nakayima tree shrine is also known for its natural beauty. The area around the shrine is lush and green, with rolling hills and scenic vistas. It is a popular spot for hiking and birdwatching, and you can also take part in other outdoor activities like horseback riding and mountain biking.

Afterward, you will take a lunch break before arriving in Fort Portal late in the afternoon for your overnight stay at either Ndali Lodge or Crater Valley Kibale.

DAY 2: Go for Chimp Tracking Kibale Forests National Park and other Primate Safaris.

Start your day with an early breakfast and gather at the lodge to embark on a morning walk through Kibale Forest to search for chimpanzees and other primates. Accompanied by experienced guides, you will gain valuable insight into the behavior and lifestyle of these highly intelligent animals, which are surprisingly similar to humans in many ways.

Tracking chimpanzees and other primates in Kibale Forest National Park is a thrilling and memorable experience. In addition to chimpanzees, you will be able to see other primates such as red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The forest is also home to over 375 species of birds, including the African grey parrot, green-breasted pitta, and the great blue turaco. Visitors can also see various plant species, including medicinal plants used by local communities for traditional healing. The lush forest environment provides an ideal habitat for these animals, and visitors can observe them in their natural habitat while learning about their behavior and the efforts being made to conserve them. After the chimp trek, take a walk to Bigodi wetland.

The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a protected area adjacent to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. It is a habitat for over 200 bird species including the great blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler, and White-collared Oliveback. The wetland is also home to various primates such as baboons, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey. Additionally, visitors can spot different reptiles, amphibians and insects in the swampy environment. It is an excellent place for nature lovers and bird watchers to explore the unique biodiversity of Uganda. Lunch will be had en-route.

In the evening, retire to either Ndali Lodge or Crater Valley in Kibale to rest and recharge for the next day’s adventure.

DAY 3: Visit the Nyakasura Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru and drive to Kampala and later to Entebbe

Start your day with breakfast before embarking on a journey to Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru, located in the southwestern part of Kabale district near Fort Portal town. The name “Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru” means “breasts of Nyinamwiru”, and is derived from a local legend about a woman who was forced to cut off her own breasts and throw them into a cave in order to save her people from a curse.

The site is a popular tourist attraction and is home to stunning caves, waterfalls, and fascinating rock formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. Take a leisurely walk around the area and capture some breathtaking photos of the natural beauty.

After your visit, return to the lodge for lunch before continuing on to Entebbe airport via Kampala for your departure back home.
