8-Days Gorillas, Chimpanzees and Wildlife Safaris Uganda

Day 1 TO QUEEN ELIZABETH National Park

Our Safari Guide  will pick you up and transfer you to Queen Elizabeth. Formerly known as Rwenzori National park Queen Elizabeth hosts a diversity of wildlife. It's biodiversity ranges from open Savannah , Rain forest, dense swamps , beautiful crater lakes to the enormity of Lake Edward. The park harbors Savannah wildlife species that include Buffaloes, Lions, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Hippos and the elusive giant forest hog.


The primates include Chimps, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons. We will set off southwards only to have a stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum makers, then later take a stop-over at the Equator .Here an experiment to exhibit that is where the equator is found will prove to you that you are in both hemispheres at once. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their barely credible long curving horns. You will pass through the scenic country side of Ankole . A game drive en route is rewarding with a encounters of many of the flora and Fauna found in this park. Visit the crater lakes region then after retire for dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana safari lodge / Hippo hill camp /Albertine camp

Day 2 The launch cruise along the Kazinga channel

Early in the morning after breakfast, drive to the grazing ground of the Uganda Kob for a game drive. Search for lions in their natural habitat, as well as elephants, buffaloes etc. Return to the lodge for mid morning breakfast and then later have lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel the waterway that joins Lake Edward to Lake George. Its banks are is crammed with families of hippos, buffaloes, with elephants. Retire to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight at your lodge.

Day 3 Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge

After another early morning game drive, today we drive to Kyambura Gorge, habitat of chimpanzees. Expect encounters of primates most especially chimpanzee of different species, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion and many others in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge is a home of very many bird species.

Day 4 To Bwindi National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwiindi National Park, Lunch en route . A game drive in the Ishasha sector to search for tree climbing lions gives you excellent views of lions in Acacia trees . Transfer to Bwindi national park. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community bandas/lake Kitandara Camp/Gorilla Resort camp/ Gorilla Forest camp.

Day 5 Gorilla Tracking

Gorilla tracking you have to walk up steep densely forested hills before finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation. An inspiring moment! (This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours  a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes) Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It's amazing to think there are only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left! If you have the energy this afternoon, take a guided walk on the Munyaga River trail, which is an ideal short walk. This trail leads to three delightful crystal clear waterfalls, and there is a profusion of tree ferns, epithytic ferns, orchids and Bwindi's colourful array of butterflies. Here you may also see birds and primates from the forest edge. Overnight at your lodgeDinner and overnight at Buhoma Community bandas/lake Kitandara Camp/Gorilla Resort camp/ Gorilla Forest camp.

Day 6 To Lake Mburo National Park

Today we will drive through twisted and winding roads, and lake dotted countryside, before emerging on to the lower thorn and savannah scrub lands of Lake Mburo National Park. in the one part of Uganda sheltered in widespread acacia woodland, Mburo has noticeably different fauna to other reserves. Lake Mburo is the best place in the country to see the gargantuan eland antelope, as well as zebra, topi, impala, and several acacia-associated birds.The five lakes within the park draw hippos, crocodiles and a variety of waterbirds, while swamps hide enigmatic papyrus specialists such as the sitatunga antelope and red, black and yellow papyrus gonalek. where hippos are sure to come and graze around your tent tonight. Dinner and over night at Rwonyo Bandas or Arcadia Coottage/ Mantana Luxury tented camp / Mihingo lodge

Day 7 Nature walk to the salt lick and Canoe ride

Wake up for breakfast and go for a nature walk to the salt lick. A walk to the near by salt lick is a synopsis of it all. Deliberately located wooden hide (Observation point) offers a chance to see at least 4 different species of animals at any one time while they lick the salty soil. Most interesting to note is that this is done without the animals conscience. Return to the lodge for lunch and then later go for a canoe ride along Lake Mburo. Take breakfast, and then transfer to Kampala for a Partial City tour and later shopping in the city craft shops or even others. Basically, Kampala is referred to as a city on the hills a title derived from its original location on 7 hills that offered the key points of direction and distinctiveness; some of these hills are closely linked to colonial history. Rubaga hill is the catholic center; it is where the Rubaga Cathedral is found. Namirembe hill the protestant center where Namirembe Cathedral is found. Makerere hill which houses the impressive and historic Makerere University Kampala the oldest university campus in Uganda. Kololo hill which is a diplomatic area and provides administrative offices for diplomatic missions, Kibuli the Islamic center, Mengo hill which houses the Kabaka's palace and is a center for Buganda's Central government and Mbuya hill where we find the biggest army barracks and hospital closest to the city center. The guide will take you around to visit The Uganda Museum/ Old town/ Bahai Temple/ Namirembe Diocese/ Rubaga Church/ Nakasero market/ African craft markets at the National Theatre. With great memories, you will say bye to the pearl of Africa through Entebbe airport.
